Well, I got my SAT scores today (4/1/10) and I'm honestly not sure what to make of them because my scores are all over the place

Math--740
Reading--650
Writing--590, yes I'm serious, 590

My big concern is obviously writing, do colleges really overlook it the way some people say they do? or am i in for some serious problems?

They don’t necessarily overlook it but don’t give it as much weight as the other two subjects. Nevertheless a 590 doesn’t look good either way and they will see it.

Of course colleges look at your writing score; however, it really doesn’t play a huge factor in admissions, depending on what college you want to attend. My college doesn’t even list stats for the writing section. If you have time to retake the SAT, I would say take it again except this time study for the writing section too. In some colleges, a high writing score on the SAT can even let you test out of a writing intensive class.
Good luck!

Do you know any schools in particular that do or don’t look at writing so much?

its weird my sat was the exact opposite. my writing was best, cr 2nd and math worst. i foundth ewriting to be pretty easy.

I am in the same boat as you. I’m in tenth grade and I have the same problem. My PSAT Score was 198 (Math–80 Reading–67 Writing–51).
