I got my online score report and it seems to me that the curve for writing is brutal. Could you post your writing raw and scaled scores so that we work out the curve?

Writing MC Raw score: 45
Writing MC Scaled score: 72

Essay: 8 (4+4)

Writing scaled score: 700

I looked at the scale in the SAT Preparation Booklet and for such scores it gives a writing scaled score of 750 (!)

***...I missed three questions on verbal and got a 780; i thought the writing curve was supposed to be more lenient. Whatever, hopefully the curve on the June test is better.

Total questions: 49
Omitted: 0
Wrong: 5
Raw score of 43 correlated to a 70/80 MC
12 on the essay
740 on Writing section (btw what percentile do you think this will put me in?)

Yea, I experienced the same shock after looking at my March score report. In March, I missed 5, got 10 on my essay (didn't know where to begin on the strange "creativity" topic), and received a 710. How can a couple of grammar mistakes out of 50 questions be so crucial in supposedly determining your writing ability? Thankfully, after doing some research, I've found that most colleges won't consider or will just glance at your writing score. The Critical Reading and Math are far more important (exceptions are probably the UCs, which will just plug all your numbers into a formula).

I don't see how 4 wrong goes all the way down to 69 on mine. If 2 wrong is a 77 that means there is an 8 point gap over the next 3 raw points. Seems a bit harsh.
