Three questions:

1) I'm applying to colleges this fall... Do they look at the SAT writing section and consider it as strongly as the math/CR sections?

2) I don't test well.

I got a: CR: 620
Math: 610
Writing: 680
and... on the SAT 2s I got: Literature 660
Biology 600
US History 590 (should i even send this one?)

GPA: 4.4 W
Rank: 15/600
Taken every AP/Honors Class Available (i think i'll finish with 8 APs)

They're low scores, but with all the classes and activities I've done (which i won't name because they're similar to the ones everyone else has done so I'm sure you have an idea already), do i still have a decent shot if I apply early to NU?

3) I took the SATs again and only improved on Writing (690). Is it worth sending in this SAT score if i only improved by TEN POINTS on one section? Do they really take the highest score from each section and disregard the lower ones?

Thanks to anyone who can help answer these questions!

Hey! Don't stress about the tests! As I've said in other posts, I got into NU with a 1220 SAT and nothing higher than a 3 on every AP. I also didn't break 600 on any SAT 2's. But I did maintain the 4.0 and take APs (just like ur doing) lol...some of us are horrible test-takers! NU understands that, if you redeem urself in other areas. You have time to bump these scores up up! And yes, they will look at the highest of all of your test scores. Your GPA is great...and as long as u have great extracurrics, recs, and can write solid essays...u shouldn't have a problem. Bleed purple (especially for ED)...that's all Northwestern can ask for ;)

P.S. I dont think u get to choose which AP scores are sent. Im pretty sure all of them r listed on one document.

and definitely, defnitely send the SAT score if u went up by 10 points. if u went up by 1 point (if that could happen), i'd still recommend u send the new score in! becuase admission is so competitive, 10 points can make a difference. u'd be very surprised!

dontcareforthis, are you an urm?

by urm, do u mean underrepresented minority? noope...i am just a white boy. haha

and what does that have to do with anything? you think i needed affirmative action to get me into a higher ranked school?

no, definitely not. i was just wondering if you were urm to compare stats with other CC posts. i apologize if you thought i implied something else
