How does Cornell use the SAT writing section for admission?

bump please.

I was told that they will consider it starting this year.

Did they give you an average/median SAT writing score for students admitted at Cornell, or did they just say that they would start considering it this year?

i think that they look at it like its an SATII...I've heard that, anyway. I mean, you still have to take two others...but its important, just not as much as math/verbal.

I also heard that they are starting to consider it. Can anyone confirm this either way?

i hope someone knows. (ie bump)

i hope they consider it =)

I think they didn't consider it last year. I remember seeing somewhere that writing isn't considered until they know its a good indicator for academic ability or something like that. Not sure if they'll be changing it for this year though.

thank god that they didn't last year, that's all I have to say.

bump. anybody have any info?

Last year they considered it, but with less value than the other 2 sections; so i doubt they'd ignore it this year...they might make it on the same level as the other 2 sections for this year, if anything.

I got back from meeting with a Cornell admission officer who said that they didn't really look at it currently. They encourage students to do their best, but math + critical reading was still the focus. That's what I heard, anyways.
