SAT Writing thread

@eagles, 29 had an error…you can’t compare designers to gardens.

@eagles #29 was A or B, can’t remember the answer choice.

The beginning of the question, where the error was located, was:
The designers of Chinese gardens, unlike (the) European Garden…

Its nowhere near exact rewording but I remember that it was trying to compare the designers of Chinese gardens to European Gardens. It was a really tricky one, I only noticed after reading it 5 or so times.

Edit: ^beat me to it!

same! I had E, and then I was like hmm…that’s not right. loll

I also think “it” was okay for the odors because it was examining the potency; I put “yet” as the error, because it should’ve been however. just my opinion

@Zaza, I took a long time on that question too, and I came to the conclusion that it was referring the dreams themselves, so it would be ‘them’.

what was 25?

I can’t remember the exact question but it started like “drawing from his…”

I put it as well, I thought that “it” was talking about the phenomenon of the odors causing the dreams so it should have been “this” or something

and on 25 i got no error

Awesomee. :)

did anyone find this trickier than the tests in the blue book? I consistently get 33-35 on the first section, but I wasn’t sure about 3 or 4…

Hi, I had 4 no errors, but some people say it was 3.
And me and my friend realized that the question about the wthdrawing into its closed shells or something was different…
Does anyone remember this question?

it was like the question on the right corner (bottom)

the closed shell one was “its” b/c the animal is described as " a jdfhksjfh" so… also the oxen one, it ws choice A right? b/c it said “although it originated in dfjskfhsdk, the oxen djfhskjd” and oxen is plural of ox?

Yup it said oxen are. Key words oxen and are both reffering to plural. So it was its. Almost missed because I quickly glanced over it.

And my earlier post about q #29. I think It might have been B since I read that question really fast. Just wish I could somehow see the entire test again.

There was a question like, “quilts…caught the attention of collectors and has became…”
I put “has became” for the error, but isn’t “attention of collectors” also wrong?

how many no errors did you guys get?

@jellyksong
It should be has become, so that choice is the answer
Did anyone get 3 NE?

@bob hm yeah “has became” was pretty blatant, but shouldn’t “attention of collectors” be “attentions of collectors”? noun-noun agreement and all that…

Does anyone remember the “Drawing from past experiences… since have became” one? Anyone mark became as being wrong?

For the improving paragraphs section what did you guys get for the question where you’re supposed to insert a sentence into the place where you think it fits best?

^Immediately before sentence 10
