Seems like logical reasoning, but if you rewrite the phrase in a different order:
The attention of the collectors was caught by the quilts. (it would be even MORE awkward if attention–>attentions).

This is number 10 for improving paragraphs- was it Since I left? or Since leaving or After leaving?

thank you!
could someone explain to me why for the DNA question FROM THAT OF is correct and COMPARED TO THAT OF is wrong???

I remember it as Since leaving

@iwishicould
DNA of bears (whatever) was significantly different _____ DNA of wolves.
Compared to that implies a difference. Using different and compared is redundant, so from that of is a better choice.

its since i left b/c it said if it was “since leaving” it would modify the wrong noun… “since leaving, the storm clouds”… it was you would did the leaving, not the cloud. it couldnt be “when i left, the clouds has increased” because it said “has increased” not “increased”

^To the poster who asked about drawing exp…

I remember the first sent. of that q. It was "Drawing past expiriences from the stories his something told, this guy wrote children stories.

I thought it was A drawing because it was less idiomatic than drawing upon or apon or what ever!

Does anyone remember the question about the eloquence of Haydn? That was a hard one.

@PencilxBoxes
There was a prepositional phrase
______, clouds were outside
If you don’t use “I”, the prepositional phrase that is in front of clouds applies to clouds. Obviously clouds is not what the sentence was using as the subject, so I think the answer was “Since I left” or something along those lines.

^Thanks! I put Since I left as well but wasn’t 100% sure.
Anyone remember what the NE’s were?

^ Wolves and Bears DNA Poster

I thought it was not parallel because the first part had of

^

but if you say Since I left wouldnt that mean the clouds change because you left. Thats why I thought it was since leaving because it implied a passage of time. As always my grammar sucks so I could be wrong.

@eagles94
Then your answer was…?

^ “Since I left” could also mean “the time period after I left”
The word “since” doesn’t necessarily have to indicate a cause & effect

since could just be talking about time not cause and effect

omg pencil we’re identical CC twins (LOL creepy?)

I hope it was ‘since I left’ that is what I put. Btw is the general consensus for the question "Drawing experiences from the stories the tribe elders told him, some guy has (written many) books…

It was #26 I believe, and I put ‘written many’ as the error since it could have just been wrote.

Has everyone also come to agreement with the answer for the last writing section #12, the one that said ‘Never have… _____ they do with the internet today’.

Edit: Pretty sure the clouds one was “Since I left” because the ‘since’ was needed and there was a comma after house "Since leaving my house, I noticed there many rain clouds formed (or however it went).

Does anyone know the two paragraph improvement essays for those who have the experimental writing section?

I know one is on Deep Blue and the human abilities of the modern computer…

what was the other one?

@tenacious deep blue was the non-experimental writing section, if that is what you are looking for.

^Bobby

Nah what im saying is that I had the same answer but I thought the reason was different. Thats all.

Btw which one of the two do you guys think was the experimental one. Hopefully the harder one.
