I was wondering how Princeton is going to look at the writing, if at all.

they will not look at the writing.

really? that kind of sucks for me...

amnesia: Are you sure?

My writing score was by far my worst.

My son went to an information session a couple of weeks ago. They said that they would be using the Writing section. The representatives said that they have required the SAT II in Writing for years and it has now just been moved to the SAT I section.

The other point they made was that 3 SAT IIs were required in different subjects . . . and no Math Level 1 and Math Level 2 do not count as 2 different subjects.

I have SAT IIs in Writing, Physics, and Math 2. Math 2 score was terrible so if do math 1 in november, will they count the total number of SAT IIs as 3?

I hate the writing SAT section. It's not indicative of one's ability to write well at all. When will I ever be asked, in the real world, to plan and write a two-page essay on a prompt I know nothing about in 25 minutes? As far as I can tell, that sadistic pleasure is reserved for standardized testing only.

I took the SAT in March and again yesterday. But I don't think I did any better on the essay. I did do better on the MC. I want to send some creative writing samples with my app. Will it look bad if my score wasn't an 800 or close to it?

yeah the writing section has absolutely nothing to do with how good of a writer you are... but i absolutely LOVE the grammar section. I thrive on grammar. I eat grammar for dinner sometimes. I got a 10 on the damn essay though... still, i had perfect grammar so they'd better look at it!!!

I'm sending in some creative writing samples...very audaciously in fact, considering i got a 6/12 on the essay in SAT II, and a total score of 640.

I dont expect more than a 740 or so on the oct SAT I in writing so dont worry. u can surely send in samples.

btw what do u like to do in creative writing? I write short stories and poems mostly...sending in one of them.

That's reassuring, koala, and I agree with you. To me, the essay seems kind of ridiculous. I know a kid who got a 7 essay but got a 5 on AP Eng. Lang.

callthecops -- I'm probably going to be submitting some poetry and maybe a short story. In my film class, we're going to be writing a screenplay, so I may submit a few pages from my screenplay. I also write for my school paper so I may send an article. I don't know yet.

qwerty and callthecops - i'm submitting creative writing too! I think i'll just send in a short story... i have a really weird writing style, i'm all about the sci-fi/fantasy

Sweet, I'm glad someone's into sci-fi.

For those of you who are submitting creative writing/extras--I want to submit a kind of paper I did in the major I will be applying under. The person who supervised the paper under is reasonably well-known in the field. The problem is its about 5 pages and like...two sentences long. Is that too long?

i am sure because i went to princeton 4 months ago and that's what they said

koala...i thought u were going EA Harvard because of track? back to princeton again, eh? :)

They should consider it as it's quite like the old SATII writing.

YES- 300 posts :D

Congratulations Kjoodles!

I've entered SAt reasoning test for first time. The time finished when i finished writing the second sentence :(

Crap, I took the two history exams and math. Now I have to take something else in December to be considered? That really sucks especially since I'm pretty positive I got an 800 on both histories.
