SAT writing

no, that's fine.

I took U.S. History, World History and Math 2 too. So you should be okay with these three :)

Also, Princeton did not require the SAT Writing before.

The rep that came to our area said that Writing will just provide some supplemental info. It's not nearly as important as the first two sections

callthecops: alas, no, i'm still a Harvard EA kid... (i just got back from my official visit and it was AMAZING! but i digress...) but if i get deferred (or i suppose i should say WHEN i get deferred, lol) i will most certainly apply to Princeton RD. And i will most certainly submit my writing :)

guys...i have SAT IIs in Writing, Physics, Math 2. I guess i need to take one more so what would you suggest out of bio E, world history, lit, and IC?

btw koala, as a recruit i bet u'l be in. good luck :)

Don't take IC. Most colleges won't even accept both IC and IIC for maths. Sorry but whats your intended major again?

Take what you're good at and what's related to your area of study. Thats what I think because its good to show to adcoms that you know your content well enough from school.

Yeah- Koala's a recruit so that would bolster her alot ... I should be jealous but just thinking of a little koala bear just makes me wanna go give them a hug... why did you have to choose a cute name koala :p- you could have chosen Really Evil Person or some other evil name like George W Bush or somethin! ;)

I plan on majoring in econ or fin. engg. Unfortunately there is no SAT II in Econ (macro or micro) or in Stats, the only subjects apart from Physics that im decent at.

George W...evil indeed. He is worthy of all the expletives i can think of...and also of course, the ones i dont know :p no offense to any Reps. here...

haha, Kjoodles! Yes, well i figured that the username "Satan" didn't quite have the same connotation of friendliness as "Koala," so i stuck with the latter.

And unfortunately (for me, at least), this recruiting thing isn't everything it's cracked up to be... I had a long chat with the coach yesterday, and he assured me that the track coaches have very little influence in admissions. Blehhhh... :(

lol callthecops - i consider myself a republican, so i'll just pretend i didn't read that... :p Anyway i don't really pay attention to national politics, i'm more into the NJ stuff (which, by the way, is so corrupt that i'm about ready to raise my own army, stage a revolution, declare myself dictator, and put half the government in front of a firing squad... i swear i'll do it if Corzine is elected as governor.)

LOL koala! i liked your idea of reformation of domestic politics :p

I'm kinda interested in ur sci fi book that uv done 47 thou words. Youve got it published or what?

Wow, it's interesting to see how much we have digressed off the main topic. Anyway, thanks annandale for your info.

I was also wondering if I could submit a resume and some creative writing. Would that be too much?

callthecops: yeah, this is pretty much my life's work... except i'm only on chapter 6... :p (so no chance of publishing it for a looooooong time)

Anyway, it's seriously insanely complicated, which really sucks for me because there's no way i'll ever be able to get across to the adcoms how complex and imaginative it really is. I wrote an essay about it, but sum it up in 500 words?! you've got to be kidding me... I can't even describe the SETTING in 500 words.

I understand. I've written one short story that im transforming into a novella soon. Hopefully il be done by the end of my gap year, and when i join princeton :D

I'm sending in my short story, which is approximately 20 pages long...got a lot of inspiration from freudian psychology's application in writing (Heart of Darkness) although the plot has nothing to do with it.

What inspired you in your writing?

hey, that's pretty cool! I guess my writing really truly comes out of nowhere... you would know what i mean if you saw it, it's so incredibly random. Every time i read a novel that really makes me think, especially in a sci-fi sort of way, it activates my imagination and i come out with these random ideas that i have to write about.

I've never read Heart of Darkness, though it's come up a few times on these message boards... i guess i'd better catch up on my reading ;)

One scifi book that reall stimulated my imagination was Rendezvous with Rama by A.C. Clarke....even now, about 4 years after reading it, i get some random dreams that i feel like writing about. some of my scifi short stories turned out like some crappy incoherent fairy tale :p I'm much into realism, irony...and playing with the reader's mind.

I've never heard of it... i'll have to check it out! I think one of the most stimulating sci-fi books i ever read was Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card (it's AMAZING!). My style sounds sort of similar to yours, though i deal more with concepts... my absolute favorite thing to do is personify abstract concepts in ways that are completely unexpected. I suppose i tend to dabble in magical realism :)

Interesting...I've not read Enders Game but I better do cuz it sounds pretty cool from what my friends have said.

I find it really cool to translate human emotions or thought processes of the psyche into symbols and use them repeatedly, but subtly to emphasize a point.

btw Heart of Darkness is just plain awesome...can really get one to start philosophizing and make one turn into a die-hard freud fan :p

haha freud was a screwed up guy... he took enough crack to kill an elephant. No joke.

LOL i love the way our threads get totally off-topic :D

I just finished Heart of Darkness. It was awesome. I've heard of Ender's Game, but don't know much about it. What other books are you guys reading?

Have you read Brave New World by Aldous Huxley?
