Does uchicago even look at the writing score in the admissions process? My SAT Scores are the following:
Math: 800
CR: 730
W: 710.

In my case, it would be good if Uof C didn't look at writing.

Then you’re in luck, because Chicago doesn’t look at SAT I writing scores (or at least it hasn’t in the past). What Chicago DOES do is look hard at your actual writing. So if your SAT writing score reflects issues with your writing, then you will probably be worse off than if they had just used the writing score. But I don’t think anyone believes there is much of a correlation between relatively small differences in SAT writing score and actual writing.

what do you mean by acutal writing?

Essays. 10ch

They do see it… its impossible not to. If you got a 500 and wrote only average essays I would assume it would hurt you. A 710, however, will have no impact.

I think they actually don’t see it. They work off fact sheets prepared by clerical staff that do not have the writing score on them.

My D (graduating in '11) was told that they blacked out the writing score and that the SAT2 scores were there, just not really taken into consideration. Since then, I’ve seen other CC’ers say that both the writing and SAT2s are blacked out. Of course, these things can change, but I would not worry too much about a 710 writing score.

a 710 is fine no matter what, writing was my highest and i got in.

^^ That’s what I’ve alwasys heard too.

^ Why would the SAT IIs be blacked out? I know they’re not required, but they are “considered” unlike the writing section.

Even with writing, you have 2240, which means that your SAT scores probably aren’t going to be what keeps you out of any schools.
