Sat

Hi guys,

I'm a sophomore and I have a question about the SAT's on the common app. If you take the test 2 or 3 times, can you choose which score to send in, or do you have to send in the most recent one? Also, last year I played baseball, but this year, the Varsity Head Coach said I'm not allowed to tryout based on a scheduling conflict. Am I allowed to put the reason why I didn't continue baseball on the app? Also, will it hurt my chances of getting in a good college?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

You don’t send test scores on the commonapp, you have to pay the testing agency, collegeboard in this case, to send them to specific colleges. Some colleges have “score choice” where they only want your best one, some want to see all scores. The details are on their specific websites.

Yes, there will be room for you to note that a schedule conflict prevented you from continuing a sport and no, that alone will make little or no difference in admissions. Do plan to take the SAT more than once, if you can. Many schools will look at and consider only your highest subsections (that’s called superscoring). Also, if one sitting is just worse than the other, almost every school will allow you to just ignore and not send it.
