I'm wondering whether or not I should retake the SAT. I took it in January for the first time and received a 2300 (750 CR, 750 W, 800 M). I was advised by many teachers and peers not to retake it, but now I'm starting to worry. At this point, Harvard and Columbia are my top choices, and I'm not sure that this score puts me in good standing for admission.

Do not retake it. It is in a range good enough for those universities.

By the way, you have the same SAT score as me - even in the breakdown of Math, CR and W.

Your SAT score is high enough for admission to any schools. If you get rejected, it is due to something else. Nevertheless, it may be not sufficient for top merit scholarships at many top public colleges. Top privates offer mostly need based aids so it does not matter anyway. If your practice scores have been consistently above 2350 and you have nothing else to do, you may give it another try. Otherwise, you should focus on the SAT2 and other things.

@wannabefeynman haha that’s so weird. Thanks for the responses!

Try the ACT. A 35/36 on the ACT will still look better than a 2300 on the SAT.
