this year i got an 1890 as a sophomore on the PSAT without ANY prep. Is that an ok score for no prep?

Also...if I prep what scores can i expect? Is a 2300+ even attainable ?

THANKS

Good job on your score. I also got a 1900 on the SAT with a little prep sophomore year. ;)

Anyways, yeah a 2300 is attainable with a lot of study and especially practice. I am reaching for a high score myself in October.

Hahaha... good luck! Score increases in the ranges you're seeking are practically unheard of. (It may be possible to raise your 189 to, say, a 2100 SAT, but the last 200 points are going to be extremely difficult. :D)

I agree with annonymous

An increase like that is pretty hard.

Yeah it took me 6 weeks of intense prepping to close the last 200-300 points. Pretty terrible ****

192 sophomore PSAT -> 2180 Junior SAT, no prep at all

199 Soph PSAT -> 226 Junior PSAT -> 2290 Junior SAT, minimal conducive prep

171 Junior Year PSAT -> 2000 Junior Year SAT. my only prep was 2 online practice SAT tests.

so it's most definitely possible. i should mention though that i didn't really try when i took the PSAT i kind of screwed around with it... i didn't really care what i scored...

well 220 sophomore psat - 213 junior psat - 2160 first practice test - 6 weeks of taking Collegeboard practice tests - 2390 real thing

well for me it's been 217 sophomore psat = 2130 first SAT, which could have been 2300 in a different month.... and it was all without studying, so anything is possible. Being a competent test-taker more than makes up for lack of preparation.

would i make a difference that I got three hours of sleep the night before and got owned on the math cause of that, and on the reading cause of lack of time (slow processing due to lack of sleep)?

yaa...that might have hurt just a little lol. I had not taken more than 2 practice SATs (no other review for that matter) for about 18 months when I got a 217 PSAT and 2130 SAT.
