I'm taking the SAT2s just so I can apply to Rice and appease my parents. Who knows, with some magical luck, I could get in.

Anyway, I've been looking at Sparknotes SAT2 book and I noticed a lot of information that we haven't covered in my IB/AP US History class! Like, a whole list of explorer's and their names!

Does anyone have advice as to how I should go about studying this? Right now, I'm going to focus on the material in class. I was planning on taking the SAT2s sometime near the end of the school year. Is it possible to take SATs in the summer time? :(

Same with SAT2 Physics. Those are the 2 IB/AP courses I'm studying this year. I'm preparing for the IB Exam in Physics. I'm about to prepare for the AP exam in physics. So hopefully that's enought for SAT2s.

usually the last SAT test date is one of the first weeks in June. I took SATII U.S. History in June last year, but I wish I would have taken it in May right after the APUSH test. I had studied so hard for the APUSH test that I felt really prepared and received a 5... I had to re-study for everything again in June, and I didn't feel quite so prepared because my APUSH class had been doing study groups and review sessions for the AP test. I would suggest that you register to take the SATII U.S. History test on the May test date, so that you can study for APUSH and SATIIs all at once. Concentrate on learning and understanding the "big picture" stuff in history... these types of questions will outnumber the picky detail questions, like names of the explorers, so it's better to know the "big picture" concepts well. Just remember to study these three areas for each era in history: political, economic, and social... and you'll do just fine on both tests. Good luck!

what explorers? i got a 740 because i took it a month after my class ended and i didnt study. i found it pretty easy except for the cultural problems (ralph waldo emerson and trancendentalism, etc)...what types of explorers are you talking about? i thought everythign was well covered in my ap class

If at all possible take it the day after the AP Exam. I did that and if seemed very easy. I had enough time to finish the whole test and than go back and check all of my answers. You will be so into U.S. History mode that you should get a perfect score.

If everything is covered in your AP class and the SAT test won't be too different, then I guess I'll feel better then. I'm talking about early exploreres who managed to touch North America. I was looking at the SparkNotes SAT book.

Well, thanks for your advice. Silly me, I would have chosen the very last date to take the test. ^_^;
