I'm taking this test June 6th and I keep hearing that I shouldn't because I'm not in AP Chem this year. Does anyone know anyone who took the test without the AP class and how well did they do? I've been studying with a Kaplan book for a couple weeks now and half way through the book, I took a practice test and got a 620. I figure that's pretty good so far, but tell me if I'm wrong.

I’m pretty sure that it would be ridiculous for you not to take the test just because you’re not in ap chem, unless you are planning to take it next year. I didn’t take ap chem last year and ended up with a 720. Also, what’s kind of funny is I also prepped with the kapaln book, took the first practice test halfway through reading, and got exactly a 620. So yeah you should probably be fine. I will say though, that if you are halfway through after a couple of weeks, ideally you shouldn’t plan on finishing the book with only a couple days before the test. I remember reading through and understanding each chapter, but then with a few days before the test I realized there were many things that I had forgotten from early on in the book, and spent the last couple of days frantically reviewing. I was happy with my score, but I still think it’s something to consider (for any subject test).

Well that is a funny coincidence. I actually did realize my time restraints yesterday and am starting to pick up the pace. I’m planning on at least one chapter a day, and so I should end up with a week or so to review everything.

You gave me back some confidence, so thank you very much. :]
