I just took my SATs for Math II and physics and i kinda guessed my raw score and converted it to get about 740 for both probably. im just wondering what the top engineering school admissions statistics are regarding SATIIs. Are they imporatnt?

btw, by top i mean like one step below MIT or Caltech

i would suggest higher than 750

they are important to the extent that they trump your competitiors; i have been told that 800s are not necessary as long as you demonstrate high proficiency in scores

750 or higher is a good rule of thumb for SAT IIs, but I wouldn't retake or freak out with a 740 because it's essentially the same as a 750. They are important, but your grades in math and science classes are even more important. Also, passion for engineering and 750 SAT II scores usually trumps no demonstrated interest in engineering but perfect scores.

Top engineering schools see a ton of 800 IICs and physics.

Around 10% of Math IIC takers get 800. That should give you an idea of the grades the top schools are looking for in that area. No matter how you do though, apply wherever you want, definitely apply.

i know theres a lot of 800s but does low-mid 700s kill you? I dont have any demonstrated interest in engineering because i just recently started looking into it. Im not even sure if its what i want to do. thats why i was looking at swarthmores program, but thats proll out of my reach
