Hi, I am returning to college after 10 years away. I am finishing up some requirements at a CA community college before transferring to CSU. My question is in reference to the SAP policy regarding maximum attempted units. When I was younger I took tons of classes that I did not need. Now I am very close to reaching the 180 units attempted cap. When I transfer to a 4 year university will they only count the units they accepted for transfer or will they count every single unit I attempted at the community college level even though only 70 of the units are transferrable? I have been up all night researching this. It is worded differently on every university website. I have even called two different CSU financial aid offices. One told me they count everything you've attempted at every college and the other told me they only count the units accepted for transfer and the units attempted at their college. Does anybody out there know the correct answer to this question? Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I am hoping to attend CSU Fullerton.

Call the college you will be attending for accurate information. Different schools might treat it differently.

I have called six of the CSU campuses and unfortunately none of them have a clue. It sounds like they are just giving an answer to get me off the phone. They all eventually gave answers and all sounded very unsure.

You may need to pay a visit in person to the transfer admissions office. Take copies of all of your records with you, sit down with the head of that office, and find out what can be done in your specific case.
