does taking the SATs during your freshman yr of college make a difference or will they not even consider them in the transfer admissions process? i am looking to go to Pitt for a year and then transfer out to NYU. I only got a 560 on my math and a 640 on my reading, so i really think i need to retake the SATs. i think i have a solid chance of getting all A's during my freshman year at pitt, and my highschool transcript isnt too bad....about a 3.7 with honors and AP classes. what do you think though about the SATs? is it worth it? and should i take subject tests too? thank you

I retook it and I think it will help - but not for NYU. NYU specifically states that if you are in college already and you took it in HS, you should NOT take the SATs again, and I'm pretty sure they don't consider it. Other colleges usually do though.

thanks...im wondering though if just cuz they say you dont need to...they wont even bother to look? maybe i should call them. ugh, can i just say that i hate the college board?

If you retake, the colleges will see it when you send the scores. On the CB score report, all SAT and SAT II tests that you have ever taken appear. They would specifically have to look at the date in order to ignore the later test and use the earlier one from high school.

I don't think Pitt would use SAT II's even if you took them, and that would look strange after you'd taken college courses in the subjects.

Just take it this May or June, while still in HS; or take the ACT May or June.

thanks...ive just signed up for the may SATs! wish me luck : )

I got into NYU

580 math
680 writing
740 reading
