SAT's again

Now that most of the colleges look at the best parts of the SAT, not the best tests, shouldn't this exam have less value?

For instance, I could take first test, studying only for English, get 800CR, 800V, and 200M
Then I study only for math and get 200CR, 200V, and 800M on the second exam
My overall score will come out as 2400

Is it fair to give SAT so much weight after all of this?

Thanks in advance

First show that you can really do that, and then talk about fairness.

What does it matter? Every applicant gets the same "boost." If college X does take the best scores over multiple sittings, they will probably say so on their web site somewhere; it is therefore the applicant's responsibility to research the college and to take advantage of the "boost."

It's not that I am jealous of those people. In fact, I'm one of them.
But the thing I was trying to say is that a lot of applicants worry about their SAT's more than about their SAT II's when it seems that now they have (should have) same "value"

And yes, I know that standarized tests are only a small part of the application proces, etc. I was just curious.
