Hey guys, I recently applied to Pitt as an in-state student about 3 weeks - 1 month ago. Hopefully some of you read this to calm your nerves. On Saturday, (2 days ago) I received my acceptance letter into their pre-pharmacy program! When I sent the app I wasn't so sure I would get in because of their SAT scores. On college board's website Pitt's average/ mid 50% range scores are as follows, Math 600-690, Reading 570-690, and Writing 560-660. My SAT scores... Writing 480, Reading 500, Math 680. I'm actually somewhat surprised I got in, but i think that my math score helped since I'm more of a math/science major. Also, I will be finishing high school with double the required math and science credits I need to graduate. My gpa on a 100 unweighted scale is a 97.86, I'm not sure how to convert but according to one online conversion method it's a 3.91. Feel free to comment or ask any questions, I'd like to hear stories from other people who applied too.

Congratulations.

You’re right, SAT score aren’t everything, but your GPA is. That’s probably one of the reasons you got into the Pre-Pharmacy program. Many students wish they had a 3.91 UW GPA, I wish I had 3.91 lol.

Thanks! Did you apply?

This post really calmed my nerves a bit. I thought my SAT score(1850) was going to ruin my chances of getting in University of Miami with an UW GPA of 3.91.
Nice to know that I have a chance now.

no offense, but that’s to Pitt- most of the people on this board are chancing themselves for the elite universities in the country, where SATs are held to a much higher degree. Still, it is annoying that the people on this board mindlessly heed to these SAT restrictions. Even if they landed on the moon and cured cancer, they would consider going to Cornell or Harvard a reach if their scores were a bit low in the ranges

Hey you should consider posting in the results thread, this is exactly what they are looking for.

@oohtobeagooner well i wasn’t chancing on this post… bottom line is just because your SAT scores are under the standards doesn’t me you can’t get in. And Pitt’s Pharmacy school is ranked 14th in the country, so I’m sure it isn’t the easiest school to get in to. Obviously I haven’t gotten into their pharmacy school by any means, but they only accept people into the program who they think have the chance or who are good enough to get in. We aren’t talking about other people on this post so im not sure how you are trying to bring up harvard and cornell in a post that isn’t even in the same category of schools. Most colleges are “difficult” to get in to, we aren’t talking about your backyard community college who accept 100% of students, we’re talking about schools who have reputations like penn state, ohio state, pitt, uconn etc. Sure they aren’t cornell, but they are no means “easy safety schools” for the average student.

This is definitely a good point… these days, standardized testing is so jacked up anyways that I doubt colleges give it all that much emphasis.

@goodactor will do. i just opened this account today and this website is a little more complex than i thought lol
