Hello!
I'm just wondering how difficult the SATs are, based on each section.
I've heard the math is easy, but I don't know about the difficulty level of the Critical Reading or the Essay portion.

difficulty is relevant, the best way to find out is to take practice tests.

I would agree that difficulty is relevant. My daughter found that although math is her strongest subject, it for some reason did not transfer to her SATs (this was her lowest section, with a 730). On the other hand, her weakest subject in school is English, yet she got an 800 on the writing section and a 750 on the critical reading section.

However, she did earn an 800 on the Math II (harder level) SAT II. I think I have heard that some kids in higher math levels, like BC Calculus, end up doing worse on the math section of the SAT because they have forgotten some fundamentals, or otherwise because they go about solving most problems the difficult way-with calculus.

Yeah! I did some practice SATs and Math II SAT IIs,and I did worse on the SAT math portion, which is very odd.

Thank you for your advice!

I'm hearing the essay portion is not very difficult as long as you have some vocab range and clarity. =]

it's subjective, my friend who goes to this uber-competitive public school said chem was super easy,

but everyone at my school says it's really hard.

lol! The difficulty of the SATs is totally subjective. I'd say the hardest section is writing, because it's so much less definite... it's all grammar... so while it's easy to get a decent score by going with what sounds right it's hard to actually find a stategy that works consistently.

thats true!

generally at my school, people say the essay is very easy. is this true?
