We drove through Marist recently, what a gorgeous campus!

I completely agree, SATs do not completely reflect the type of student that someone is. Believe it or not, colleges also take that into consideration. They realize that the SAT exam is a stressful exam that do not give a complete overview of who the student is. There are plenty of schools that now give the student the option to send their SAT score or not. Marist College is a great college that is located along the Hudson River in Poughkeepsie NY. I would highly recommend looking into this school if you are nervous about sending your scores. Marist gives their students the option whether or not they want to send their scores. In addition to this, they look at your extracurricular activities, clubs, sports, awards, and other grades besides just your SAT score, in consideration. Marist College is a beautiful and great school that I personally enjoy so much. I was nervous about my SAT score also, and my guidance councilor recommend Marist to me, and I am so thankful for my decision to attend Marist. If you have any other further questions about Marist specifically and the weight of the SAT, you could call the Marist admissions office and they will be more than willing to help. There are plenty of other schools also that do not put as much of a weight on this exam, so keep your eyes open and do not stress!
Hello!,
I just want to say those are some very great universities you’re looking at. I visited Lehigh, Nova, Loyola MD and Marist, but now attend Marist College. I myself did not submit my SAT scores to any college, and was involved in many clubs and athletics as you are (ironically, also at a school in North Jersey). Not submitting my SATs did NOT hurt my acceptance into college. If a college says they don’t want your SATs, they cannot judge you on not sending them in. Being SAT optional is a phenomenal choice most colleges offer because they understand that the test is not for everyone. Don’t freak out, with your credentials and GPA colleges will be interested.
Good luck, you’ll do great!

@RedFox50 While this kind of positive sentiment is something that we hardly have too much of here on CC, it’s best to refrain from reviving old threads. OP applied last fall, and is hopefully attending a school where he/she is happy.
Marist would be a great option for you then. I was in the same boat as you my SAT scores did not reflect my grades in high school at all or the person I was. So I came across Marist and saw that it was optional to submit your scores if you wanted to or not. So, I decided not to and regardless ended up getting into the school. They do not care if you send them or not so its great that they look at you as a person and not how you did one early saturday morning. Definitely take a look into it and visit the campus if you have a chance.
Thanks for all the comments everyone! Ended up at Loyola and couldn’t be happier. Got into Northeastern despite my SATs so don’t let them refrain you from applying to your dream schools
