does UNC look at all three SAT sections? I know some colleges only look at reading and math scores because they don't know what to do with the writing score.

in-state
I have a 1310 with reading/math (which is good), and with writing, its 1910 (which sucks)

I don’t think you should worry about it too much, especially since you’re in-state. While it does help to have high scores across the board, I doubt that your SAT score will hurt you when it comes to admissions if the rest of your application (essays, GPA, extra-curriculars) is solid. I know students who got in with much lower SAT’s so don’t sweat it.

Short answer: yes, as you also see writing scores present with critical reading and math in the UNC Portal.

Whether they are viewed as equally as math and reading, nothing is explicitly stated, but the scores are listed on collegeboard and the freshmen profile, which gives the appearance they are viewed equally.

I heard that writing was only used for placement in English Classes, since it replaced the Writing SAT II, which was used for the same thing.

EDIT: Though the ask admissions seems to contradict this. I believe I heard this from a UNC rep, or that it was passed on by my schools guidance counselor. Anyway, I believe there was another thread on this topic a few months back
