LOL

I honestly think you need to get those SAT's up to a 1700-1800 to have a decent shot at most of those schools. You're still a junior, so you have plenty of time to study. Just for a little inspiration, i brought my score up over 200 points from my junior year to my final SAT.

sorry, billhpike i dont study what college look for in admission.

Are you Native American by any chance?

with your record I am surprised you got the scores you did on the SAT. My advice is to spend the money and take the SAT prep class. They teach you how to take the test. My dd got 250 more points after taking the course (hers was offered by Princeton Review through her school district at half price without the guarantee). Good luck. You are a good student and have a good resume--I wish the SATs would be thrown out...they don't mean a thing in my opinion.

how about clarkson?

you'll definitely get into umass

Consider taking the ACT--you may find you are able to do better on that test

Retake the SAT--maybe you just had a really bad test day

Consider applying to schools which do not require standardized tests as part of their appplication--there are many fine schools (more and more every day as the absurdity of these tests continues to uncovered) that do not require SAT or ACT. Check out the list on the Fair Test website. Your grades and strength or curriculum is a far better measure of your academic potentional then one test

Some schools that I recall do not require the SAT/ACT include:
Union College, Bowdoin, Connecticut College, Holy Cross, Hamilton College, Muhlenberg, Dickinson, Eckerd College, Bates, St Lawrence
to name a few, but there are hundreds

Good luck

You may also want to look at fairtest.org for a list of schools that sat optional. Also, I agree with posters about taking some tutoring/class to get that sat score up. Many schools will use that sat score when determining merit aid too. You can also consider trying to take the ACT.

so basically if i dont bring up my sats...community college?

haha no, no, as huskem said, you'll get into UMass.

the only thing that's holding you back from all of your other schools is the SAT...bring that up 200 pts and you'll be alright.

They will be looking closely at the math score if you select engineering as a major (as well as your math grades). You need to bring up the math score more than the verbal, in that case. Also, try ACT or fairtest.org as alternatives.
