SATS Scores--- Killers?

How important are SAT scores to UChicago

Would a 680Math 590CR and 620W kil my admission chances at UChicago?

Well supposedly Chicago's supposed to care less about standardized tests than other elites. But, a 1270 (they don't care about writing) certainly won't help you since its about 100 pts below the 25th percentile.

I think that they're more forgiving of the math SAT score being low, but the 590CR might raise some strong questions about whether you'd be able to get through the Hum/Sosc parts of the core, which are especially reading-intensive. You'd have to have superb essays to counteract those kinds of SAT (CR) scores.

An interview would probably help, as well as some recs from people that should know your writing. If they don't think you are a reasonably good writer/reader, your chances are pretty bad, but it might not be too hard to convince them – with good evidence – that your SAT is a fluke.

I think that your SAT scores will not help. However, that being said, that doesn't mean that you don't have any chance. My child had a 760 verbal and a 580 math. She went for an interview and she really hit it off with the interviewer on campus. This definitely helped. Also, if you have stellar grades, interesting and passionate extracurriculars and perhaps community service, your SAT scores can be overlooked at Chicago. Show them your passion for attending the school and why you are a good fit. Lots of luck.

Well im a US citizen who grew up out of the US for my entire life and I am a URM... I hope those things might help me. My recommendations are superb! and I really think CR doesnt reflect my writing potential bcuz Ive got four 5s in Social Studies APs (US Comp GOVT European and US)... those should definetly help right?

^^^ they probably will
