SATs tomorrow--essay section ! eekk

is it true that SAT essay graders look at the length of an essay, and if its long they give it more points?

so is it NOT like AP tests where u have to stay focused and prove a point, or is it more about writing a lot and writing stylistically and stuff?

and, should i bother with a thorough intro and conclusion, or should i make it a one-two sentence deal like with AP tests??

thanks!

I'd do a conclusion and an intro...in March I only did an intro and didn't have enough time/space for a conlclusion and i got a 9...I think my essay was 10 or 11 quality but I got bumped down a bit...also don't talk about religion and politics a lot --like i did :</p>

Mine was a page and a half (in other words, I only filled up 3/4ths of the space) with pretty sloppy writing and I got an 11.

im sure theres nothing wrong with talking about religion and politics...

thanks for ur help tho. thats good to hear, ohnoes, definitely comforting.

Well, you don't want to go against someone's religion or politics or they may be biased. people are judgmental. Just because they are english teachers that grade your SAT essay doesn't mean they aren't biased.

thats tru gigante. that sux tho. i think i made an anti-republican remark in my AP english test :-/ hey, they are ENGLISH teachers tho, every english teacher ive ever known has been very liberal... -shrug- hope it doesnt hurt my grade

Completely true... I know my english teacher is a grader for the College Board..... and to be perfectly honest, if you end up getting graded by him...... I pity you.

:-D

size matters.

there was a study conducted by MIT researchers and they found a correlation between number of words and scores. serioulsy, write as much as you can and be as coherent as possible. you'll get a 12.
