does lehigh look at the writing section of the SAT? The first time I took it I got 650 on CR, 700 on math and 640 on writing. The second time I took it I got 620 on CR, 670 on math and 700 on writing. Superscored this is a 2050 but if they only look out of 1600 then I would obviously only send my 1350 from the first time I took it. Someone please let me know as soon as possible. Thanks

yes, they look at the writing section of both the SAT and ACT :3

yeah they look at it and if you get better than a 750 you can get exempt from english which is awesome

thanks so much. dont mean to be annoying, but what do you think my chances of getting in are? 96 GPA, 650 CR, 700 Math, 700 Writing. Full IB Diploma so my schedule consists of 8 extremely hard classes this year and last and honors courses prior to that. I am the captain of the varsity cross country and track teams. I have been working with the same volunteer foundation for autistic children for 5 years and I have work experience. I am in national honors society and other specified honors societies. I am applying early decision II with the January 1st deadline. Please let me know what you think my chances are.

As a first generation college student and unsure about my own admission decision (I applied EDI), here’s my humble opinion:

I’d say you have a great shot. I know grades alone can’t determine whether you’d be accepted or not, so just make sure make yourself stand out. Do you have a talent? Show them.

I was also going to suggest that I read somewhere that upper tier colleges also consider why you are applying. Since they’re popular safety school to ivy-league material, they don’t like to be #2. I read that they consider what your alternatives are; where you could go if they deny you. Applying EDII would deff. help in showing them they are your first choice.

Sorry I can’t be more help O.O …I just want to get accepted… AHHHHH!

I’ll post my stats if I happen to get in. Hopefully. I’m so nervous. >_<

you are all wrong. After two information sessions and e-mailing the admissions counselor, I can honestly tell you that Lehigh does not look at the writing section of the SAT and the Essay of the ACT (but they look at the writing of the ACT because it is a factor in the composite). The counselor also said that if for example you had two 800’s on math and CR and a 590 on writing, then that would alarm them, but they do not take the writing section at all into factor for admissions.

They don’t take the writing section into consideration…I wish they did!

the writing section of the ACT is not in the composite. the two english sections in the composite ACT are “reading” and “english.” when you got back your ACT, your writing score was sent back about 2 weeks later. Ive been to three information sessions (2 on campus one off) and they say the same thing about the writing section not being considered. However, my college advisor said the same thing about writing, that at schools who do not count writing, since they do see it and if it is too low they will look into it.

sorry you’re right. I meant to say they count the english section, not the writing.

no biggie
!

My bad… the writing part of the ACT is required, and the SAT writing is not considered.

When I looked on collegeboard, I knew the ACT writing was required, but I guess I just assumed the writing was considered. >_> sorry
