Okay so I took the SATs in 7th grade through the Duke talent search program and got a 1330 (or around there), and took it again last year (9th grade) and made an 1820. I know that colleges don't really like students taking the SATs a ton of times so I plan on taking it two more times throughout my high school career. The question is do I take it once this year (10th) and once 11th? Or do I wait and take it once 11th and once 12th?

1820 total, (i dont remember actual numbers but they're about this) math 700, cr 600, writing 500 give or take on a few of the scores.

Also, I could use some serious advice on raising my score. I just purchased the Barron's SAT 2400 book, and am planning on really studying for the SATs... I really want to take it this year, but maybe waiting till next year will really benefit my grade (and give me a lot of time to study).

I really want to get into Princeton or Stanford or MIT maybe, but I know I need a solid 2100+ to have a good chance. Any advice here?

You should really check out the SAT/ACT/AP forum; this is all they talk about! I never used any study guides or did any studying, so I know nothing about books and methods, but there are an unbelievable amount of threads in the aforementioned forum dedicated to how to improve scores and the best ways to study.

The one piece of advice I can give you: I would recommend taking the SAT once in 11th and once in 12th if you’re going to do it twice more. I’d say take the SAT sometime between January and April of 2013, then take subject tests (which are required for some of the colleges you’re looking at) in May for any subjects you’re taking AP classes in or anything that doesn’t require much studying. That way, you can retake them if you feel you did poorly or take more if you think it necessary in June. Then take the first available SAT at the start of your senior year (if you’re not happy with your previous score). Then you have at least one more test date in case you’re really panicking about any of your scores.

thank you, i didnt realize there was an SAT forum!
really appreciate that.

I will definitely do that! From now to then I’ll just keep trying to study and take a few practice tests (like one every month up until next year or something.) and hopefully score a 2100+ on my SATs :)
