anyone from cali get their mail today yet?

I wish my WiFi reached out to the lawn chair I put by the mailbox...

For some reason, I'm just not expecting it today...too early...

-Ender

yeah, i expect it monday or tues. oh well.

I still think there's a small chance. Small.

Saturday mail around here is pretty irregular. If at all, it wouldn't be here until 3-5 p.m. PST.

But if you read my USPS timeline... come on, it makes sense, doesn't it? What's frustrating is that it really should get down the coast in a day, because if it doesn't, it's because it's sitting in some sorting center in San Francisco, Oakland, or L.A., or sitting in the belly of a plane on a runway in said locations.

Nobody send holiday gifts today - think of us poor college applicants and have some mercy.

haha how do we get that word out?

...maybe I'll meet my mail halfway...

-Ender

I think it's too late, we should have hired a professional spammer to send that message out yesterday, when Stanford was sending mail.

Ender - I'd be 100% willing to do that, no joke. Honestly, I was thinking about this... what if, somehow, I were able to track the letter? That would be awesome. I have friends in the Bay Area, what if I were to have them send a letter from Palo Alto w/ tracking feature yesterday afternoon?

BUT NOOOOOOOPE. WE WAIT, TORTURED.

Yeah. Assuming that they were all dumped in the mail Friday, today would be a longshot. Monday probably - maybe.

What about this though...

Say they "mailed" everything on Friday, but sent the decisions to the most remote locations (East Cost) with the fastest service, and sent the closest letters regular mail (Cali). That would be staggering, but they could still say they sent them all out on Friday.

-Ender

True, but that would cost them some extra. It would not be unreasonable to assume Priority service to east coast and First Class to west coast.

... I still think they sent First Class for everyone, though. Acceptances AND Deferrals/Rejections.

Just a thought -- heh, Stanford's not gonna break the bank on a few extra stamps...

-Ender

True again. Doesn't help us though, does it, Ender... :(

Nope, what time does your mail come?

-Ender

On weekdays around 3-4 p.m. I'm never home on Saturday, but my mom says it's irregular... anywhere from 3:30 to 5:30. On weekdays, there is sometimes a "late round" of mail.. just last week, instead of those funny little USPS trucks, it was a minivan with a mailman getting his thug on to some Tupac.

Rest assured, I will mug my friendly mailman as soon as he pulls up in front of my house. I can see the mailbox from my room, right here at my computer chair.

Princeton's 3 for 7 so far, and mail has come to Long Island, NY from central NJ.

So it's kind of possible I guess, but still unlikely. I figure the distance by truck from central NJ to NYC is equivalent to a plane ride from SF to LA, since there are no major hubs in between, and the flight is 1 hour. Ender, you've got a legitimate chance.

I'll come home this afternoon to check. Where are you again zsurf?

-Ender

San Diego.

I'm in Orange County.

Cow, let's go to LA to pick up our mail. Live off the 405 or 5? Toll road? I'll pick you up. Maybe we can hit up the Wedge, too.

Uh... Huh? I got too much math and physics to do... The 405 freeeway is right next to me by the way ^_^ How do you know that the mail is in LA though?
