As a Chinese student and a new member of this forum, just post a new thread to all of you guys!

Hello! Class of 2013?

No
Class of 2012
I am now preparing for my visa interview and also waiting for UC Berkeley

Where did you get accepted?

UIowa
Wiscosin-Madison

Welcome Aboard, mate!

hello there!

Man, so many of you guys are preparing for your visa interviews while some of us have yet to get an acceptance. That sucks.:D

My friend told me about the German Visa Interviews for USA. They are like this:

Official: Why do you wanna go to the USA?
Friend: Uhm, I got accepted at an university there.
Official: What are you gonna do in the USA?
Friend: Uhm, study?!

And that's all...8 hours waiting for 2 sentences and of course a F-1

hello.....?

Hello! I'm from Central Asia, got into Smith ED. Are you guys already getting visas? My school hasn't sent I-20 yet, as far as I know.

Official: Do you have an American boyfriend?
Friend: No yet

She gets an F-1

I'm not kidding it's true

I really should not be that hard to get a visa. After all, all you need to do is convince them that you are not likely to become a public burden: you are not a criminal, you have enough money and you intend to leave the country again. That's it.

And the consulate usually assumes that the college has already checked items 1 and 2.

I agree with your idea

Another concern that they have is whether you could possibly be a student in the US, the I-20 saying that you are is not enough. They are listening to your spoken English and if you are able to interact at a near-native level.

So for those internationals who feel challenged by this, do practice a bit before going.

Hi guys,
Aloha to all fellow internationals. I hope all of you get through with your visa interviews. Good luck. and hey, anybody going to UMN - Twin Cities? Please PM me if you are.
