“Say Yes to the Dress” fans

I love the show SYTD…………beautiful gowns, pricey gowns, snarkyness, tears, and drama, all in one show. :)

I don’t have cable and so had never seen it until Christmas Eve, when I was sick and in a hotel. Lucky for me, it was an SYTD marathon! I wish I could watch it all the time.

Youdon’tsay, it is on Hulu - you can watch it on your computer!

I love the drama that unfolds in the store!

I love that show and it’s made me realize to NEVER take more than 2 people dress shopping with me…!!!

That show scares me! The amounts of money spent on those dresses! Granted I got married “a century” ago, but my dress cost $180. Now that I’m old and have two daughters of marriageable age, I regret those college tuition payments which could have paid for THE DRESS. LOL

Now, bunsen, like I need another bad habit!!! (says the woman who just watched some Spanish soccer online).

I love it. It’s this huge fantasy world that I don’t think I’ll ever live in that’s full of sparkly gowns. I dislike the drama, but the dresses and consultants are fabulous.

Oh goodie, TutuTaxi, I’m so glad you started this thread!

My D started watching the show and I watched - and got hooked.

Disclaimer: I didn’t have a fancy wedding gown, never wanted a big wedding and actually eloped because planning weddings scared me.

Yet, I like watching them choose their gowns, and am always surprised when the gown they choose isn’t the most “flattering” gown of the bunch.

I love that show, too! Someone told me about it around Thanksgiving and I have been watching it since then. When my daughter was home for winter break I was watching one of the shows I had recorded and I thought she might say something on the negative side. Instead she said, “Oh, my roommates and I love that show, too!”

I like the dresses, the consultants, AND the drama.

As mentioned in the other thread, my D’s and I LOVE watching this!

I am so appauled by the behavior of some of the moms/friends!!! PEOPLE, it’s the bride’s day!!! When it’s so clear she loves a dress ,but it’s not fulfilling your fantasy - zip it up!

Yes, the price of the gowns is unbelievable to me. Please tell me someone, that you can actually get a wedding gown - a nice one - without spending something with 3 zeros!!!

Have never seen the show, but sounds like fun!

My daughter and I love the show. Randy is our favorite!!

And what about the attitudes of the brides? It seems as if nothing is tight enough or low-cut enough! IN MY DAY (oh, do I sound like my mother) the church would insist on having some parts of your anatomy covered. What happens to the poor bride who doesn’t want a strapless dress? Posted by someone with very little in the way of assets.

I also don’t like it when a bride has the attitude, “but even though this dress is $3000 more than you said we could pay, I WANT IT!!!” - Annoys me!

Also, hate it when the bridal consultants show the brides dresses WAY over their price range.

Keisha is my favorite consultant. :)

Keisha, Sarah, and Randy are the best.

Everytime my dad walks in on me watching it he makes a joke about paying for my wedding after paying for college. I don’t think he believes me when I reply that I’m not expecting him to pay for a wedding in the least.

abasket, if you’ve got a bride with a little imagination and who isn’t hung up on labels, you certainly can get a dress for less.

I was privilieged enough to go wedding dress shopping with my nephew’s fiance. She is very body conscious (and, trust me, if I had her body I would be, too). She has an excellent eye for what she looks good in and saw this very simple dress hanging on a rack for less than $200. It was not the tulle and lace beaded dresses you see on SYTD; this was slinkier, like a gorgeous silk nightgown. She tried it on and proceeded to talk to the seamstress about all the alterations she’d want made to it – cut the back out, etc. Well, it ended up gorgeous. She’s even on the photog’s website in that dress.

t_c, I like learning this new side of you!!! :)

abasket, I agree: Keisha is the best, but Randy is a hoot.

youdon’tsay, it sounds like the wedding dress of the woman John Kennedy Jr married. Remember how simple that was, and how gorgeous she looked??

YDS: I usually keep my CC action as college-related as possible, in Search and Selection and in the Parents of 2010 threads, but I’m finally getting comfortable enough to expand to other threads in the Parent Forum. I just hope you don’t mind us kids on here!
