I am currently writing my college app essays, and I was wondering if it's okay to say the name of a teacher within my essay, or if I should just call her "Ms. M." I know this is a very minor issue, but I don't want to make a mistake on such a minute detail. Thanks in advance.

I think it’s fine to use the teacher’s name (as long as you’re not being malicious). I think if you call her “Ms. M–” you’ll look like the author of an early Victorian novel.

I paid tribute to one of my teachers, by her full name, in one of the essays I wrote for Harvard many, many years ago. I got in.

Yeah, only veneration
Thanks so much! And belated congrats on your acceptance to Harvard. :)

Oh…*very *belated. I graduated in 1985!

But thanks for the kind thought.
