Thanks everyone for all the input so far; it really is making me feel better :)

As many of you have said, there is just a lot of mania surrounding “HYP” on this site, and it’s hard to separate what’s true from what’s just hype. Some posters talk about “unmatchable” experiences and opportunities, and that’s what I start to get scared I’m missing out on. But I really appreciate all of your supportive responses.

For those who asked about my future plans, I’m 95% sure that I want to go to law school straight out of undergrad. Of course, there are people on CC who claim that top law schools and top law firms love to see an Ivy pedigree for undergrad–just more things to worry about with my decision!! Then again, there are those who say undergrad doesn’t matter for top law school admissions…seems like an ongoing debate that might never get settled. I’m trying not to stress about all that right now (after all, I’m far from having to apply to law schools!) but it all adds up in making me second-guess myself.

Anyway, thanks again, and keep the posts coming if you have anything to add!!

alright, so the buyer’s remorse continues to come and go, and one question keeps nagging at me so I’m bumping this thread with it.

do law schools like Harvard, Yale, Stanford look more favorably on undergrads from Harvard/Yale/Princeton than other top-20 schools? what about employers?

I know I’m probably starting to sound neurotic at this point, but I’d really appreciate honest answers to this.

userid Hanna who went to Harvard and Harvard law, who says going to Yale or Harvard improves an admission to one of their law schools. You may want to PM her.

A girl at my school chose a full ride to Syracuse over Princeton. You’re not alone in these types of decisions. Besides, based on your acceptances, you clearly are a great student, so you will do well at whichever college you chose to attend. You, not the school, will determine your success.

I feel ya. I was deciding between Dartmouth and Rice (with 18.5k merit). I was choosing based on fit, not prestige (I also got into NW and Cornell but ruled them out immediately). I think you made the right decision; going with your gut is always the way to go. Also, there is no point in looking back now. You probably would have had a great experience at either school, so go have a great experience at the non-Ivy.
