Saying u plan to take a class in the summer, then changing your mind

This question is mostly for UC transfers.

I am a chem major, i'd much rather take Physics or Biochem than stupid math classes.

I will apply for Fall 2006.

When i apply in august can i put down i will take Multivariable calc in summer of 2006, and then when i get my acceptance letter, i will call and tell them i changed my mind.

Point is i'll pretnd to have all my lower devision classes completed, which makes more competative.

But, i really don't want to go to summer school. I've done 6 straight summer school and want a frickin break.

Opinions????

1) I think you meant you're going to apply in November, not August.
2) I don't think classes taken the summer before you plan to attend the university are considered for admission, even though they do transfer.
3) From what my community college counselor told me, the UC's won't care if your summer schedule changes. They know that the summer is a long time away from when you sent in your application and your plans might change, not to mention the courses you promised might not even be available. My counselor told me that as long as you inform them it'll be fine.

I dont know about all the UCs, but I know that classes taken the summer before you go to Cal cant be counted toward IGETC or your lower division requirements. So lying would be pointless anyways. But if you did lie and then get in, you would have to ask the admissions people if not taking that class would get your admission rescinded. Thats pretty risky.

why is it risky?

If they say i have to take it or i'll be revoked, i'll just get my butt to school in the summer.

the reason that it's something i consider is read somewhere that UC look to c if u are able to graduate in some amount of time once admitted, having all ur Lower devis stuff done is proly a big plus.

They dont even look at summer coursework when figuring out admissions. Classes you say you are going to take in summer will be considered untaken when they are reviewing your LD requirements. I would just take the class in spring or something

Don't Do It !! Most UCz don't consider your summer 2006 classes. It can hurt your admission chances.

indie boy, why would it hurt me?

WOn't they be kind of fooled thinking i will have done that calc class and have a bigger chance of graduating on time?

If calc is one of your req classes then, as i said earlier, they will not consider your summer classes (2006). By this i mean, they will not even look at it. So according to them, you are not taking that calc class at all. This is my interpretation of their policy. You might want to ask few other people to make sure.

oh ok thanks.

Yeah it is one of the reqs, but i just don't have time to do it.

I am doing
Bio 1,2
gen chem
Ochem
Physics

not enough time for calc 3 :(
