SBCC or Chico State?

Hey guys I need some help! I currently go to chico as a freshman but am thinking about transfering to sbcc for sophmore year. Which school do you guys prefer? Chico is okay but there is nothing to do during the day and santa barbara is incredible. Give me some of your opinions.

Are your grades good enough that after another year at SBCC you would get into UCSB?

Other than that, I think you should go where you want to go… certainly more upside with SBCC if it in fact positions you to go on to a UC (not just UCSB) where there is more going on both within and outside the campus – UCI, UCSB, UCSC, UCSD, maybe even UCR.

It’s silly to transfer to a CC for just one year. Do your best at Chico and then try to transfer to UCSB or similar school.

(If you think Chico is boring, cc’s are usually very boring.)

mom-- it’s not the school that OP says is boring… I think he/she doesn’t like being in the middle of nowhere… so to speak. And you obviously have never been to SBCC!!

Chico’s not that bad…

I’ve never been to SBCC, but I’ve been to SB many times.

I don’t see any point in transferring to SBCC for ONE year.

Yes it does sound weird to tranfer for just one year, but i was planning on transfering out of chico sophmore year any way and it is easier to come from a cc to a uc rather than csu to uc. Chico is boring during the day, therei s nothing to do and i feel like a waste of life. Id rather be in sb where it is lke paradise. i get great grades so i dont think the transfer process should be a problem. I just am wondering from experience or opinion which school is a better place to live and have that college experience.

There’s plenty of stuff to do in Chico. You have to get out there and make opportunities for yourself. Nobody will be handing you things to do in Santa Barbara.

Given SBCC’s TAG agreements (essentially guarantee transfer to a UC not in LA or Berkeley), going to a juco can make a LOT of sense. In general, jucos are commuter schools, but SBCC has a surprising number of “residents”. Of course, some of them are on the multi-year plan since they are having too much fun.
