how often is a person with a low GPA admitted in this college? I think this school would be my perfect college experience but apparently I've been slacking in HS :(. Im in my senior year (applying in december) and taking the october and november SATs. I have a few extracurriculars i dont think they are anything big. this senior year I plan to bump up my GPA to 2.5-3.0.

... my current GPA is 2.2 (weighted i think) 77% cumulative average. ,my last SAT i took in march i got pretty low (1250) but will improve, im studying hard on the SAT

With a 2.2/77, you're going to have a really, really hard time gaining admission as a freshman. We're probably looking at another increase in applications this year, but we're not increasing the size of our freshman class, so I think things are going to be tight. Good luck, though.

what if i spent a year or two in maybe a CUNY college and keep my grades steady, then apply as a transfer, would that up the chances?

Absolutely. Once you've completed 24 college credits, then we no longer look at your high school record at all.

Is there any cut-off as to what is considered a 'low' gpa? For instance, if a student had a 3.01 uw, but a 4.4 weighted (plus 34 ACT) would that student also be a long-shot for admission? Trying to get a sense of what to hope for/expect....

There's no official cutoff, but really, once you get below an 80 GPA (2.5ish, depending on the school and the grading system), the circumstances should really be exceptional.

Thanks! (whew, son is above that...).
