This is not just a nice sentiment. The group does this for their members.

When we were in New York city my daughter was wearing an SC sweatshirt. Suddenly a family (with dad wearing an SC sweatshirt) yells, “Fight On!” across the street. My daughters yelled back and the other family did the victory sign. We were in a rather sedate neighborhood (UES)…who cared?

SC is the kind of school where you see people in scrubs (and guys in business suits) skateboarding.

It’s awesome! :)

“A young man stunted by early childhood cancer, is all decked out in Trojan gear and “assists” the football team at the games and at the practices.”

You gotta love Ricky. Great guy! He is one of the reasons i’m moving to Cali this summer.

USC is the type of University where every single student agrees that this is the greatest school on earth, the greatest experience ever. Students who have turned down any school you could name to attend here, as well as those who were denied by their dream school and attended SC as a back up, only to understand what a blessing it was, all share a common obsession USC.

Although numbers play a roll in admissions, USC takes the most holistic method imaginable. This results in a student body made up of the most dynamic individuals around. Everyone is bursting at the seams with ambition, and one feels blessed to be surrounded by people who all have already or will go on to do amazing things in life.

At most schools you earn a degree, here you earn membership in the prestigious lifelong club known as the Trojan Family, where you are forever embraced.

It is really hard to put in words the love I have for USC. Attending here has been and forever will be the greatest thing that has ever happened to me. I know of no one who had the gift of attending who feels otherwise.

Faithful, scholarly, skillful, courageous, ambitious. These are traits that will take you far in life. These are the traits of a Trojan.

FIGHT ON!

Oh, and I thought it was pretty cool that we have a $2 million dollar endowment fund for our mascot, Traveler.

A magnificent Steinway grand piano, once owned by Jascha Heifetz, is donated by Simon Ramo of aerospace fame to the Thornton School of Music.

Lehigh, Hebrew Union, Indiana, USC, Santa Clara, Univ. of Houston and Pitzer all have or had presidents who were SC alumni.

Buster Crabbe '31 was the first USC All American swimmer. He was the only actor to play Tarzan, Flash Gordon and Buck Rogers.

H. Robert Reynolds of the Thornton School will direct the 2010 Honor Band of America.

An alumnus, living outside of the United States, was awarded the Asa Call Alumni Service Award. Ronnie Chan of China was the honored recipient.

Both Michael Landon and Tom Sellleck became famous TV and film actors although they came to USC on athletic scholarships.

One of many Pulitzer Prize winners from SC, Tim Page, can be found in the Thornton School of Music where he is Professor of Musicology.

what a great thread! the soup thing is super cute. & i’m glad i learned that about neil armstrong, lol. the people seemed really nice when i visited over the summer. & when a guy shouted “fight on” at our tour guide…made me smile : D

Love these…passing them on to my son!

alums on the streets of Washington, DC are quick to say “Fight On!” no matter the time of day (or night)

just a quick personal story as well.
I just got an internship on a local movie set. The second assistant director, who is also my coordinator, is also a USC grad. We chatted about the school and how much it’s changed, and it’s just nice going to a new job and already being a part of the Trojan family, even though I haven’t started my studies there yet!

Congratulations on the internship! What a great start to your summer!

thanks! It’s pretty sweet, I’m excited about it. It’s a great experience, too. There’s so much to learn from being on a set that you really can’t learn any other way.

great thread should definately be sticked also because i think there is only 1 stickied thread on the USC page

oh quick update, we gang up on the UCLA grad on set, cause he mocks me all the time. He calls me spoiled child, and I call him child of lesser abilities all in jest, of course!

this is going to be terribly worded, I apologize in advance.

…where an alum on the Broadway stage flashes a “fight on” at the end of a song while the rest of the cast just puts up a hand and USC people recognize the symbol from the audience.

(Stark Sands in American Idiot at the end of “Holiday”)

sorry, it’s really hard to describe, but if you see the show, you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about. The actor playing Tunny is USC class of 2001.

Wisdom,
Thanks for sharing. Stark Sands received a Tony Award nomination in 2007 for his role in Journey’s End. He is an alumnus of the USC School of Theatre.

I know, he was in all of the theatre pamphlets I got this year, and it was so cool to actually see him perform live and meet him! He’s majorly nice.

I also hear that USC is the only American university with international trustees. They also have international offices in Mexico and various parts of Asia. No one else is reaching out to the pacific rim like USC. Thats where the big money is prolly gna be in the near future, and having a lot of alumni back there is sure to bring in support. Its pretty smart I think

…you can go to milk and cookies at your professor’s apartment in your residential college and sit in the exact same seat that a TV star sat in a year ago (Troian Bellisario, who plays Spencer on Pretty Little Liars. I think she’s class of 08 or something, but I guess she came back to visit?)

… where I had this conversation with a random person at the SCA building while waiting for the elevator:

Me: Are you famous?

Him: … Is there any particular reason you ask?

Me: Oh, it’s USC SCA, I figured famous people came here all the time.

Him: Well, I’ve been working in the movie industry for a few decades now, and I worked on the publicity for Star Wars and ET.

O_O
