Is the answer A?

I'm not sure.

This is sort of an ambiguous sentence completion question... But I would think (B) is the answer.

A major clue is "As expected" = "wealth of banality" (AKA-- a lot of trite, same-old, cliche stuff-- expected) So if it is full of all this trite BS, then it lacks anything profound or deep/meaningful.

subsidon, I don't see why a "lack of personality" works with "wealth of eloquence" because eloquence could be a description of his/her personality.

yea (B) sounds better to me now

the two have to be opposites

B is the only answer that has the needed contrast.
