CC is telling me to post more so I guess I'll ask chances. I'm a senior(white, male) in a kinda crappy SC public school. School SAT averages are wellllll below national average but above state. I'll have taken 10 APs. I want to major in electrical engineering. I'm not sure how to format this, so here goes:

SAT-700M,700V,570W(yeah I know writing sucks, but I can't seem to write a good essay, in class I do though)
ACT-30Comp, 32Reading, 30Writing, 30 Science, 28 Math
APs-Soph World Hist-3
Junior USH-5, Stat-5, Psych-4, Eng Land-3
Senior Euro, Gov, Macro, Eng Lit, Calc BC
GPA-I've brought mid-high Bs to mid A's, probably like 3.6-3.8
Rank-I'll get my transcript tommorrow but last year was 18/430(because I slacked off Fresh and Soph years)
Extra-Academic Team 3 years Now Captain, Youth Court 3 years, Just got a job

Colleges:
Alfred
Boston U
Christian Brothers
Northeastern
RIT
Rose Hulman
Wofford
(as you can tell I want to get out of the south so no Clemson)
Thanks, tell me if you need more info

You have excellent stats, but no offense, but you dont seem qualified for Schreyer. Dont get me wrong, you did damn better than I did, but Schreyer's avg. SAT is a 2100. Everyone I knew who got in there was an Ivy-type student.

That being said, BU is a great choice for you. You'd probably get money, and theyre always looking for some geodiversity.

Yeah, UPenn would be a pretty big reach. I am going to look at BU and Northeastern sometime this October. I like Boston and the general area a lot. My aunt used to live in Boston but now lives near Portsmouth. My family is very northern so I have tried to keep my search limited to a few certain areas. We're originally from NY so that's why I have Alfred and RIT. I looked at those over the summer. After I see it, I think BU will be my top choice(it doesn't suffer from a complete lack of women i.e. RIT, Rose-Hulman). I've heard that a lot of local students get good scholarships; how about OOS?

If you apply early to Indiana for their honors program, you could probably get $7,000 a year towards tuition there. (although they don't offer Engineering--consider Purdue for that--I think they also give decent financial packages to good students)

You might also consider Clark College or Whitman--both are good LACs that give decent financial aid--although they are a bit expensive. (I don't know if they offer engineering or not)

Take a look in the financial aid section of CC--or College search section. People there might also be able to make suggestions--this section is primarily about chances for acceptance to these (and other) schools.

Those schools-excluding Purdue-don't seem to have what I'm looking for. Thanks for all the help you guys have been. No one here seems to be of help in giving opinions on out of state colleges. My school has sent one person to Vanderbilt and one to John Hopkins so I don't know how my guidance counselor is going to know(very good schools but compared to other highschools, not so good numbers). I figured CC would be much more knowledgeable and helpful(which it is).
