sc v sb

So I know that both schools are very different, but i feel that i could fit into both. i kind of a new age-y san diegan. i am into having a healthy lifestyle (food, yoga, etc.), i'm liberal, and an environmentally aware person. I dont wear a lot of makeup, and dont obsess over having fancy clothes, cars, etc., even though i am kinda girly, but down to earth. but im also not like an "artsy" kid, and i like to party, and go to the beach, and i do want to go to a school where i can really have fun.
so which school do you think would be best for me?

what is ‘I am kinda girly’, does that mean you are not a girly girl ???

im far far from a tomboy, but not like barbie doll blonde. more like relaxed beach girl

relaxed beach girl, that is fantastic !!!
especially if it is a sunny day with a high of 78 degrees !!!

Honestly, I would advise taking a tour through both schools to see which one will be right for you as both schools are highly reputable and will surely provide a great college experience.

That being said, I would like to offer my opinion on the matter. Santa Barbara and Los Angeles are two very different communities and each has its advantages. UCSB has the advantage of having the beach and its acclaimed social atmosphere (which I assure you is a major plus). LA has a very active social scene as well, but students in this area, to say the least, tend to be much different in nature than those is SB. I have many friends and family members that attend both universities, and I have spent enough time on both campuses to give, what I would consider, an insightful opinion on the matter. Those that attend UCSB love the fact that it is laid back in nature and tend to not want to leave the beautiful landscape it provides. Those at USC definitely have a great time in the notable area of downtown LA and don their cardinal and gold with pride; however, I will say that many of those individuals have been irritated by the sometimes excessively critical young men and women of USC. To me this is where I give UCSB an advantage and will place my vote. No matter what you choose, you should be absolutely honored by your achievement and prepare yourself for four great years ahead of you.

I think she meant Santa Cruz, not USC. Jes?

As far as how good the schools are, Santa Barbara wins. UCSB is ranked 9th among all public schools and SC is 29th. The weather is different in each place but nice in both. Santa Barbara has a reputation as a party school with STDs running rampant. Santa Cruz has a reputation as a stoner school with naked treehuggers running through the forests. I doubt either of these things are as serious as people make them out to be but they have their basis in truth. Just from an academic standpoint Santa Barbara is more impressive. And who wouldn’t want to live right on the beach. I know plenty of people who go to Santa Cruz though and absolutely love it. No matter where you go you’re going to find people who you fit in with, so it comes down to which atmosphere is more for you and what you want to do with your college experience.
