SC Visit

I will be visiting the University of South Carolina next week...to those who have visited, is there anything that I should do or see when I get to Columbia? I live in Virginia, and Columbia SC is quite a drive.

I really want to make the most of my visit! Please let me know...

Do you mean on the campus or in the city?
We were there a few weeks back for the McNair interview..didnt get to see any of the city but if you want to know what to see on campus, I have ideas...have you signed up for the tour?Have you contacted your major dept (if you have a preference)?
Make sure to see the Wellness Center (Strom Thurmond Center) its not on the tour (at least wasnt on ours) and is a sight to behold.

To be honest, the city of Columbia was a disappointment when we visited USC. There is an area (don't remember the name - Four Points maybe) that the college kids go to - clubs and restaurants, that appears to be in the midst of construction. If you ask during your tour, they can direct you.
We ate a great prime rib dinner at California Dreamings, in a former train station.

There are two areas that have restaurants and such...The Vista, and Five Points (maybe four....but I think it's five). Both have restaurants, shops, etc. Also suburban Columbia is actually quite nice.
