I’ve been accepted into some schools for animation and am having difficulty deciding where to go, I wanted to see if people here could give me some insight so I can make the best decision.
I’ve narrowed the schools I’ve gotten into down to SCAD and Pratt and I’m having trouble figuring out which one would be a better choice. I’ll be going in for a degree in Animation and was going to concentrate on 2D animation.
The things I’m most concerned with are the quality of education, the quality of the students, and how well students typically do after graduation.
We are looking at both school for 3D animation (daughter will apply this fall). One thing I can tell you is that being in NYC with PRATT will have you near so many opportunities for internships. We haven’t visited SCAD (just attended an informal session in PA) but I do hear good things about their animation program. You have two good choices…go with you gut. Good luck
hey same here, i was accepted into both Pratt and SCAD for animation and I’m concentrating in 2D. Getting a little stressed since the tuition deadline for Pratt is so soon haha.
I think I’m leaning towards Pratt because of the location, so it’ll be easier to get a job right out of graduation & I won’t necessarily have to move for a higher paying salary, which I’ll probably have to do once graduating from SCAD. I feel like there might also be some better internships with better named companies while still in school at Pratt.
I’m still conflicted though bc SCAD’s still ranked higher somehow, & i feel like from what I’ve heard, their graduates are better repped in the industry… but honestly? no clue. Hopefully I’ll get to visit both before May 1st, so i can get a better feel for their schools.
Pratt and SCAD are both ranked highly for animation and both allow you to study 2D as well as 3D. Go with the school that you think is a better fit for you and/or is financially more feasible.
