Scam?

I have been admitted to Cornell and this week I received an email from a "sophomore" at cornell inviting me to give them my common app for a "study". This dubious character claims to want to help college bound seniors with the admissions process by providing past applications which have been accepted for seniors to "draw inspiration from."

What do you cornell students know about this? Is this a legitimate email or a scam? This cornell sophomore's name is Katherine Edwards: see if you can cross reference her witht he database back at hq aka cornell. Also why would this lady expect me to provide my essays for others to take ideas from? That completely defeats the purpose of college admissions!........some people.
Additionally my friend at school who was recently admitted to Princeton received an email that was almost word for word. Something smells fishy

I would say don’t trust it, and if you really want to participate, then ask for better identification. (maybe an e-mail from her cornell e-mail address)

there was a post about something similar on the main College Admissions board a while ago
if you search for it you might come up with something
i think people agreed that they thought it was a scam, and that it wasn’t a good idea–especially because the CommonApp would contain personal info like SSN, birthdate, etc.

it was from that exact email address
