so i sent in my UMich app in december, and the date they recieved it was 12/15/05...how much will this impact their admissions decesion

I have a 3.73 recalculated UM GPA
32 ACT
All IB Courses....diploma on the way
On the old point system, Umich gave my school 10 points
I live in michigan also

I applied in January, and I just got in yesterday. I think it does give you a slight disadvantage though, since the ones that applied late (like us) will have less spots to fight for.

I think you're good to go. I had the 32 ACT and a GPA that was close, and I don't even live in Michigan. But I don't know your EC's (mine were probably slightly below average) or essays (I thought mine were awesome)...those might be the key factors here.

thats interesting...i wonder why they are taking so long for me....my ecs were definatly way above average...and essays iv been told are very good also....they always just say "well it takes 12-16 weeks" but maybe ill be getting mine soon hopefully...

Another student could have unique factors that would vault them before you--maybe from an unusual area, legacy ties, first generation in college, etc. The point of holistic review is to consider a lot of stuff, which is why it's harder than it used to be to compare your grades and scores to another student and assume you'll be regarded as equivalent to University of Michigan.

I'd say your chances are good. Your GPA is respectable, your school is respected in the state and you have a strong ACT. But you applied late and you are from Michigan...you should have known better.

yea my app was completed on Jan 6th according to the wolverine, and I haven't still recieved my decision..... On the other hand, a kid in my school who applied like at the end of January got in already (like 2 weeks ago)...what's up with that?? I called my adcom, and she gave me a blah response......I am so scared if anything had been gone wrong.

Yea, I have pretty solid stats. 2270, 3.91 / 4.73, 10APs etc. but I applied in late december, they said they received all my stuff by January 12th...or was it the 19th. Anyways, I'm trying out for Ross Preferred admit. Right now I'm thinking that I might have gotten in if I applied in like...October, but with an app completed so late...damn, I don't think I have much of a chance for ross

OMG, does it really take 12-16 weeks, cuz I applied right at the deadline, on February 1, so does that mean that I won't find out till May 1 or later? By that time I would have already had to make all of my college decisions.

edy_42, I don't think its that bad (at least from my own experience).

The decisions probably have a bit to do with one's stats.
I submitted my app around the 3rd of ..... February! My transcripts and O/A Level Certificates reached them by the 6th of Feb as I live outside the US. Got my decision on the 26th of Feb.

Forgot to mention this but I am an American Citizen living (& educated)abroad. Thereby I don't think I fall in the international category. However, since I gave the British O & A Levels and am from a foreign system school, my app may have been handled a bit differently than other U.S. Citizens' apps. The official decision letter is going to take a loooooong time to get to me though coz o the foreign mailing address.

Oh, no, you would have been handled the usual way, although maybe they would have had to assign you to special readers to make sure your record was interpreted correctly. But you'd be in the same "pool" as out of state students, and thus the speed with which your app was handled reflects that you're a particulaly well-regarded candidate.

I also got my acceptance letter last week and I also applied in Jan. Your stats wont keep you out, but applying late was a bad idea from your part, especially since you're in-state.

I wish you good luck, man. You deserve the acceptance letter.
