^^ And, for what it’s worth, there ARE Community Colleges with dorms. Two of them in upstate NY were my daughter’s safeties. So as soon as she hit “submit” she knew that she would be able to go away to school.
She has since gotten an acceptance from an additional State school-- not her first choice, but a very reasonable option if her #1 choice doesn’t’ work out.
The idea is to keep your options open! A quick search showed up Louisburg College-- is that a viable option for you?
OK, so let’s talk backup plans… what are you thinking?
Remember, I’m NOT saying you won’t get in-- just as I wasn’t forecasting an early death when my husband and I wrote a will or bought life insurance. Backup plans are simply how adults prepare for contingencies… they’re the adult version of bringing an umbrella along.
Spend a little time today researching schools you’re confident you could get into and where you suspect you could be happy-- once you get over the loss of that dream school.
I mentioned Louisburg College-- I know absolutley nothing about it. Could it be a possiblity?
What is it about NCU that appeals to you so much? What is your major and what are you hoping for from a college? Large/small? Urban/rural/suburban? Let’s see if we can come up with some alternatives.
It looks like 33% of their incoming freshman have GPAs in the 2.5-2.9 range. So I would say you’re close there. Your SAT is lower than their average, but: what do you have to compensate for that? Any good activities? How was your essay? Who wrote you recommendations?
Good luck with NCCU. I hope it works out for you, but the other people who have posted before me are right: you need a backup plan, just in case!
