i’m a girl and im not jewish

“I wouldn’t be too sure” refers to the previous post “there will definitely be some acceptances don’t worry”

I hate to do chances threads but I agree with some others…I’d get some more applications out while there’s time. In addition to Tourguide’s suggestions, possibly Muhlenberg, Ursinus, Gettysburg, Boston U, Drew, GW. I think the gpa could be problematic.

I think you will get into Cornell, I know a lot of people with 1300s who got in.

^^ with a 3.28 and top 30%??

To be quite honest I think your GPA will hamper your chances at dartmouth, cornell, upenn, nyu, and emory.. I think you should have applied to more matches.

i think you will get into dickinson, tcnj, lafayette, and probably bucknell

the others are really big stretches, but don’t worry aim high. you have to remember, though, that three of those schools are ivies, and emory and nyu are crazy competitive too. you have a shot at all of them, but i probably wouldn’t count on acceptance to all the schools on your list. there are other great schools if you are looking for a few more matches/safeties that you can apply to really quickly, but you’ll get into college no worries

ilk07, thanks that was encouraging!

3.28 UW GPA and 2010 SAT and you are applying to the Ivies?–okay, we know where the rejections will be.

Dartmouth/Cornell/UPenn/NYU/Dickinson/Emory/Lafayette/Emory–Rejections
Bucknell–probably a rejection
TCNJ–likely acceptance
Rutgers–almost assuredly an acceptance

Look, you’ve been on this website too long. There’s nothing wrong with going to TCNJ or Rutgers. I have a good friend who went to TCNJ as an undergraduate, then went and got a medical degree from Georgetown and is now a surgeon in Westchester, NY.

Ivies are excellent schools, but there are a lot of great schools in the US.

Good luck.

yea rutgers and tcnj are great schools its just they are so provincial. it’s not much of a chance going to themm..

I think the best bet on your list is Dickinson; TCNJ actually might be a stretch imo.

what people are not remembering here is that if you have a 3.28 but you are still top 30%, that is good. colleges will keep in mind if your school is ultra competitive

Go see your GC and get some advice on realistic schools that you can get into and that you can afford. Pronto. Don’t know if you sought out advice before, but your list is very, very reachy given your grades and scores and the limited info your have provided. There are many wonderful schools out there – we are still getting mail from many good places that are continuing to accept apps.

Gettysburg is one; try Lehigh (don’t know when their deadline falls).

I know kids with 1300s who got into Cornell.

sesquip, i bet those kids had great gpas though?

There’s no mention on this thread that OP goes to an ultracompetitive high school. If that’s the case, you’re right.

Still…just looked it up— 93% of TCNJ freshmen are from top 25% of their class. Can she get in? Sure. She could get into a few on the list, and I hope she does. But that statistic alone would get me applying to a few more safeties, which is what I would suggest while there’s time. Couldn’t hurt if the only safety, Rutgers, is undesirable.

i think you need a hook and that being trilingual is a pretty good one. although most app dates passed, you should look out for some 1/15 schools.
i think you would have a good shot at tulane, and since emory–another southern school is on your list, you might want to give it a shot.

*what school did you apply to at cornell? and if you had a second choice, that will help as a fallback. do you have an intended major, i’m not too sure about your interests but language or international affairs would be pretty fitting considering your background

shb08, i applied to arts and sciences and major in russian literature. i didnt do a second choice though..and yea i applied for international relations for lafayette and others schools and russian literature in the ivy leagues..

Ura, russki yesik! Ne bespakoisa, vso budet narmalno.

I don’t think you will get all rejections. I am not too sure about Dartmouth, Cornell, or UPenn, but I think you will be accepted to Dickinson and Lafayette. The other schools I am not too familiar with, but it’s not like your stats are HORRIBLE horrible. Plus, you’re Russian, so it’s diversity? :D

Why is your GPA so low, anyway? Can you still send the schools an explanation for the low GPA?

hahaa SPASEEBA ya tak ne lublu this whole college thing uh. yea my gpa is low bc i should have worked harder and didn’t even know what an ap class was until sohpmore year.. no one really told me its pretty sad. if i get into 2 of those colleges ill be very happy.

yea…
