Scared to take Calc 3 and need an idea of what it's like

So I have decided I want to apply/transfer to UC San Diego but I have to take calc 3. The problem is that I took calc 2 a little over a year ago during the summer. I never took calc 3 because UC Davis did not require it for biology.

I got an A in both calc 1 and calc 2, but I do not remember ANYTHING from calc 2 since we were allowed integral sheets and it was during the short summer period.

I just need some feedback on what calc 3 will be like. Do I need a strong foundation of calc 1 and calc 2, or can I get an A even if I do not remember much from those classes?

Thanks!!

If you have your old books just flip to the review sections and do problems out of there. If you are taking calc 3 in spring then you have ample time to review over the winter break.

Go to MIT’s OpenCoureware. They have multi-variable calculus lectures you can watch.

Honestly, it isn’t that difficult. It is like doing Calculus One over again.

It barely uses Calc II. Just do some old Calc I/II problems to refresh yourself and you’ll be fine. Easier than II, in my opinion.

I wouldn’t say that it was easier. It depends on the person. When I took it last year I remember doing tons of double and triple integrals later on. The class was also much harder than it needed to be and I aced Calc I/II pretty easily. So definitely brush up on your calc skills because this class can make or break you. If you can find some old exams or problems online that you can work off of then do that.
