Scared!

I'm planning on going to college in 2009 and I've got to admit, I'm already a bit afraid. Being alone, having to do everything myself, being far from family; how did you guys deal with this or how are you going to? Did you have the same feeling as me?

Thanks in advance for your help!
Cheers

i don't know. the prospect of having to fend for yourself is simultaneously intimdating and exciting.

Anyone else?

I love the prospect of leaving this damn country.

It's such an adventure.

"A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do....Bring 'em on" :D

Mercutio-!

HELL yeah.

The fending-for-yourself issue, it was difficult for me but I got the hang of it in a few days. I grew up upper-mid class, which meant back home, I never had to wash dishes, clean the bathroom, do laundry, etc.

I miss my friends. I get envious when they send me pictures of them going out and having fun over there almost every day. I had to get used being alone a whole lot. While I've done my best to make the international experience enjoyable, nothing still beats being back home with my friends. And I'm in a college town, so not having a car means I stay here where the malls and clubs suck.

" Being alone, having to do everything myself, being far from family; how did you guys deal with this or how are you going to? "

Those are all reasons for why I want to study abroad.

And... as Mercutio said, it would be awesome to leave this damn country.

thanks guys. By the way, how long did it really take you to adapt to things?

Can I join the "terrified" club? I'm applying to US and Western Europe for 2009. Perhaps some of you could say what it was like to leave home for a long time (like... 1-2 years) and to move to a place where you don't know anyone and have never been to.

P.S. I've been to France and Austria for a few days but it's not the same!
