Scav Hunt!

Scav Hunt starts this week-- Wednesday at midnight, to be exact! If you're a prospective student and are interested in learning more about Scav, or looking at the list, or if you're in Chicago and want to (gasp) get involved in Scav before you come to school here, here are some options!

The Scav Hunt list for 2011 will be posted online at 3am on Thursday, May 5th on the Scav Hunt website: http://scavhunt.uchicago.edu/
You can also look at past years' lists in the "Archives" section.

Participate! This year, Scav is going to be breaking the world record for "world's largest scavenger hunt"; this will happen on Friday, May 6, starting at 5:30pm. More details are on our website, and you can also attend (only do this if you actually plan to attend the event) on Facebook; search "Scav Hunt World Record Attempt", it's an event.
You don't have to be affiliated with a Scav Hunt team OR even a current student to attend; take a look at the rules and setup, and if you're interested, feel free to come down to Hyde Park to participate!

Ask questions! I'm busy running Scav Hunt this year, but if you have questions, I'll try to answer them here-- I'm sure other current students will be interested in piping in as well.

If you are interested in the University of Chicago – either planning to attend, or thinking about applying – and you haven’t looked at a Scav Hunt list (or three), give yourself a treat and check 'em out. They constitute a strange, idiosyncratic, and hilarious genre of folk art/pop culture that’s unique to the University of Chicago.

And they’re off!

A message from BJ Scav. (We’re having so much fun!)
Mama Shaq, Mama Shaq, Shaq’s your mom, that’s a fact!

Anyone have any wooden golf clubs or live moths??

I’m currently still a junior in high school but just reading the Scav Hunt list has moved U Chicago from my “Hmm I’ll probably apply there” list to my top 3. Maybe that’s a bit of an extreme decision to base off one little thing, but holy crap that list made me laugh more than I have in a long time. You guys must be having fun. =P

I would like to see those pyramids and mousetraps.

@cottonwood513: The pyramids were still on the quad last I checked. They looked pretty awesome

The Beej won!!! Take that, Snitchcock!
1st BJ
2nd Snitchcock
3rd MacPierce - they did really well this year.
4th Max P

That’s all I remember from the top of my head. You can check out everything on the scav website.

Long live the beej! :-D

And of course, tied for fifth, Breckinridge! We tied with South—this is huge news, and a wonderful victory for both teams.

Yeah, this year was fantastic for BJ and MacPierce! Good job you guys! :)
