I'm an upcoming Senior hoping to apply to Stanford early, but the last test that Stanford will take is the October test, which is also the first test offered by college board. I have three options:

A) Retake my SATs, hope for a better score, send an early app. without SAT II scores
B) Take SAT II scores, hope for a good score, send an early app with okay SAT score and hopefully okay SAT II scores?
C) Apply regular with a hopefully improved SAT score AND hopefully good SAT II scores?

I got a 2130 on my first SAT, but I KNOW that I can do better. (680 CR, 700 M, 750 W). My ACT is 32 with 12 on writing, and I'm not sure whether I want to retake that in the fall, but I will probably end up retaking it. I'd really like to study (marine) biology at Stanford, and it is definitely one of my top choice schools, but I don't know whether it is a bigger advantage to have stronger scores or apply early?

Also, because the Stanford supplement essay is the exact same to the common app essay (long), do I just submit two long essays? With the same prompt?

are you IS or OOS?

Out of state (IL).

how about...retake your ACT's in september (get a better score than 32 this time). Then take your SAT II's in OCtober (last chance bfore scea). Your SAT score is good enough imo. Even if they say the SAT IIs are not mandatory you have to take them. IF you get a 34 or higher that can balance out ur SAT.

I called the admissions office, and they just recommended that I apply regular, especially if I think that I can improve my test scores by a good amount. That's what I was thinking of doing ANYWAY, so I think that's the route I'll go with.

stanford has not released their supplemental essay prompts yet.

http://www.stanford.edu/dept/uga/applying/1_2e2_essay.html

the 3 essays are supplemnt, and at the beginning of the webpage it says "in addition to the long common app essay" so i think supplement only asks for 3 short ones.

I had this same dilemma. I emailed the admissions office and they gave me a different answer: they told me go with SCEA, and to take the SAT in October to improve my scores. They also said that the subject tests are not crucial, they only confirm your doing well/not well on your regular SAT. In addition, they recommended I take the subject tests in November and submit them anyway, because there is a chance that they will have not reviewed my application yet, and that the scores will be part of my app.
