My D submitted her SCEA application to Tulane Oct 20. GC will send transcript, secondary school report, and recommendation soon. My D got a 30 composite score on her ACT and is taking the test again on Oct 27. She does not want to automatically send her scores to Tulane until she knows how she did. Is there any way admissions would make a decision on her completed application before seeing her second set of scores? We were hoping if she did better on the ACTs she may receive more merit aid.

You should contact your rep and ask them to hold her application for review until after she has received her scores. In previous years they have gone back and adjusted scholarships for score updates, but I know more recently they have been reluctant to do that. My son’s ACT went from a 32 to a 34 which by typical measures would have bumped his scholarship up $2,000 at a minimum or $5,000 at best. The most we got from the admissions rep was that they would reconsider it in May when they saw how the class was shaping up. Obviously, they have not had any problems filling the class in recent years, so there was really no incentive to bump him or anyone else on the list at that point.

Thank you kreativekat. I appreciate the info.
